How do you know if the web site name you want is already owned by someone else, or if it is still available to buy?
The easiest way to do this is to simply type the name you want into the address bar of a browser. If the name is taken and a website exists, you will be taken to the home page. If the name is not taken, you will see an error message instead:
In this case, you are in luck, and you can buy the domain name as no one else has registered it.
You can also check if a website name is already taken by using one of the tools provided by a domain name registrar like Godaddy:
